- Ms Skye grinned widely at Kennedy and clapped her hands, encouraging the rest of us to do the same. As we applauded Kennedy, the teacher praised her for how well she had done, and thanked her for being such a wonderful example of the lesson. Hearing Ms Skye congratulate her made Kennedy smile the widest I had ever seen her, and she got up and returned to her seat with a very satisfied look on her face.
- Ms Skye let Kennedy settle back down and asked for the next volunteer to go. The room was silent, and my classmates and I glanced nervously back and forth at each other. No one seemed very eager to go, not even Brittney.
